We started potty trained Sebby's on Monday, April 5. We expected to changed tons of pants/short and wash it nightly.Bought bunch of shorts from Carter (.99 cents) when we went to SD last September, 2009.
Day 1.
The nanny would bring Sebby's to the toilet every 30 minutes. He resisted and didn't like to sit there, of course. Even if he was sitting there, he would cry and want to go down from the potty. The nanny would let Sebby to sit in the toilet for 10 minutes. He would bring a book with him or something to occupy him. As expected, when mommy an daddy came home, we would follow through and keep the same routine as during the day. Of course, did 1 load at night time when he asleep. Around 5-6 pants/short.
Day 2.
Same routine... we fed him dinner by sitting in the vinyl rather in his high chair. There was some small leakage but he didn't seem to mind being wet as he was trying to control holding in his bladder. When we saw that, he would ask him if he wanted to pee and he said No in Vnese. We still took him to the toilet anyway and he did pee. He went commando from times since he refused to wear pant/short after he pee. He had an accident since he's used to wear diapers, he had 1 dry nugget on the vinnyl and shortly after that another big one on another side of the vinnyl. Did small load of laundry at night times.
Day 3.
Same Routine...the nanny would bring him in every 30 minutes. This time he had no accident and did manage to go as being told for every 30 minutes and he only had to changed 1-2 pair of short/pant. Woohoo..huge improvement from Sebby as he's trying to control his bladder. He had not yet try to call one of us when he needed to go to pee or poo, but we would remind him to ask one of us to take him to pee.
When we came home to do the follow through routine, yes, he wet a little bit and would ran to the toilet to release his bladder.
Day 4.
Huge improvement today, Sebby would run around and go up n down the stair and the nanny would asked if he needed to pee or poo and he did poop in the toilet this time and pee for every 1/2 an hour with no accident. He would say it's huge and he would flush the toilet after he went #2. We didn't have to do laundry tonight.
Day 5.
He managed to call the nanny if he want to to ask to go to pee. He would say" wet pant". She only changed him 1 pair of pant today. He didn't go to #2 today, since he has a minor cold today. No need to do laundry tonight either. Since we didn't want to bombarded with whether he need to go to pee and instead he would need go call one of us if he need go to pee. We kept asking every 30 min or so. Just whenever if he drinks more water than he would go more often.
Day 6.
Since he didn't go to poopoo yesterday, it's a concern and in the late afternoon, we took turn to put in the toilet whenever he needed to. In the evening, he said "wet" again, and we took him to the toilet. His pants weren't wet, but it's just the way he expresses himself that he needed to go potty. While we thought he was doing #1, he did #2. Phew! What a relief. He pooped! We put towel on the sofa just in case he would forget and leak if he's into whatever he's focus on (TV). Now, he would ask one of us go to go pee. Sometimes his pants were wet a little before he would call us. One time in the afternoon, he went to pee all by himself without telling us. When we found him in the restroom, he was sitting on the toilet, but the floor was wet. I guess he couldn't make it in time when he was taking his pants off. We were surprised by his independence. He did well.
Day 7.
Disaster! He refused to go potty after he got up. Maybe he didn't have the need to go. He ended up wetting his pants big time! In the afternoon, the wetness continued. He would only call us when he wet a little on his pants. I guess he was still learning how to control his muscle. Right around bed time, he pooped in his diaper! ugh...
